Rainy Day Reading

I LOVE rainy days, I love how they evoke a quiet calmness in the world - it feels good for my soul. I love the sound of the rain on my window as I curl up with a good book and coffee (or another warm beverage).

There are always too many books I want to read - I can never keep up! I have a large list going and this summer I hope to get through all of them. Starting with these two;

Living in Style by Rachel Zoe - This book has been out for a few months now and has overwhelmingly positive reviews. I generally don't like "here's how to live" books - however I like Zoe's story. She had no education or background in fashion but went on to become one of the most respected and well known, stylists, designers and magazine editors. The book itself is beautiful with great photos and sections on decor, style and career advice. I haven't started this one yet - i've been caught up with Sophia.

#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso - Another inspiring female business woman, Amoruso was for a time homeless and living off "dumpster bagels". She began to use eBay to sell (stolen) items for rent money. She discovered a market for vintage clothing and began a small business that is now worth over $100 million. Her story isn't impressive just because it is a rag to riches story - She busted her butt to get to where she is and her story is inspiring!

I am halfway through this book and I love it! My only criticism is that it is a little repetitive at times - and sometimes she comes across slightly narcissistic -but I would imagine it would be hard not to be, in a book about yourself.

The book is really funny and inspiring, but also really educational for anyone that may want to start their own business.

Have you guys read these? What did you think?

xo,

Jany
